From September 19th to 23rd, the American Association of Port Authorities will be holding their annual four day long convention in Halifax, Nova Scotia. To help promote the event, Nicom designed and developed the website for the 2010 conference. The website includes online registration functionality, multiple language options, as well as the ability to be easily updated using a content management system.

Maritime Beauty is a full service professional beauty supply distributor that has seen extraordinary growth over the years. So much growth, that they had outgrown their previous website. Nicom transformed the look and feel and enhanced the functionality the Maritime Beauty website. The new site was created in DotNetNuke and provided them with powerful tools for managing events and online registrations.

We are proud to be the web partner for the Halifax Port Authority, and have undertaken a number of projects with them. This has included a gradual overhaul of their main website, starting with transferring it to a new content management system. Our work with the Port has included content migration, a number of enhancements to the design of the website, as well as ongoing maintenance. Many new features have also been developed for the website including a container tracking system and an online registration system for their Port Days event.

Formed in 1972, the Atlantic Pilotage Authority (APA) is a Federal Crown Corporation responsible for providing Marine Pilotage service to Atlantic Canada. As one of our longest standing clients, we were very pleased to have the opportunity to recently redesign their website. The new design focuses on usability and takes advantage of bold visuals and Flash animations to convey the uniqueness of the services provided by the APA. A separate secure area was also developed where assignment details can be viewed by Marine Pilots and Agents.

Community Business Development Corporations (CBDCs) are not-for-profit organizations that strengthen and diversify rural communities by providing financing (loans and equity), business counseling, and training to entrepreneurs. The new design is a departure from the traditional CBDC branding and focuses on the people that CBDCs help make successful. The project included the development of a secure area that gives members the ability to post and browse used business equipment listings.

To kick-off the 2009 cruise season, the Port of Halifax launched CruiseHalifax.ca. The new website will help the over 220,000 expected cruise visitors plan their arrival in Halifax with information such as maps, directions, security/customs information, event listings, a photo gallery and more.

Since 1873, the Ganong family has dedicated itself to the chocolate confectioner's art—an art never lost. The special skills in making quality confectionery have been passed down from father to son throughout the generations in the small town of St. Stephen, New Brunswick. Some examples from their portfolio of products are milk caramel, chocolate truffles, peanut butter cups, double-dipped cherries, and chicken bones.

Brunello Estates is a real estate development outside Halifax, Nova Scotia. In addition to 700 fully serviced lots, a boat launch, walking/hiking trails, and a community center, Brunello Estates includes a 7,100 yard, 18-hole golf course designed by Thomas McBroom Associates Ltd.

Bell-Aliant needed a way to provide employees with 24/7 access to health information, wellness programs and benefits available to them. The solution was an internal bilingual website with password protected areas containing downloadable forms and policies. The new website is kept current through the use of a user-friendly content management system.
